The hate directed at women leaders is alarming and unacceptable. Studies show the disproportionate pressure on women is systemic. The Inter-Parliamentary Union interviewed 81 female MPs from 40 European countries. They found that 85% of them experienced psychological violence, such as sexist remarks or intimidating behaviour, while nearly half had received threats of rape, beatings or death. We must work to stop the threatening behaviour — some of which is likely criminal — driving our leaders from office. This half day event in Bratislava (with online participation to be considered), attracting 50 participants will address potential solutions. Slovak national media (and potentially international media) will be important stakeholders.
